POWERGRIT DEMO’S
We recently had the opportunity to go out in the field and demo the new POWERGRIT Diamond Chain Garney Construction. They were contracted to replace 15 valves along a 30″ reclaimed water line. They were limited to the size of there escavation around each valve, by the roadway and other nearby utilities. They could easily cut the top half of the pipe with a hand held gas saw, but because of there limitaions on the size of the hole they could dig, it was difficult to cut the bottom half.
I hsdn’t had a chance to cut with the POWERGRIT chains yet, co I set our demo saw up and went out back and mad a few cuts on a 10″ piece of ductile pipe and a 10″ piece of pvc pipe. I was quite impressed, I was able to cut through the 10in ductile pipe with the gas saw in about 3 minutes.
Well we went down to the job site to demo the 633F4 gas saw with the 16in POWERGRIT chain. We had a new piece of 30″ ductile pipe – class 150. The 633F4 gas saw made the cut, but it was slow. 30″ ductile pipe is really to much for that saw. Not liking the out come we contact our Michael Ock our ICS Bestway/POWERGRIT factory sales rep and went back to the job site with the 8gpm and 12gpm hydraulic saws. It made a world of difference, Both the hydraulic saws easily cut through the 30in class 150 ductile pipe.
The next day I went to Garney Construction office in Tampa, Fl. to demo the saw there. They brought out a 42″ – class 250 piece of ductile pipe. I made a penetration, and made a 12in cut in the pipe with the hydraulic saw, but it was slow. Cutting this size of pipe is really to much for the saw, but it would work in a pinch.
Just got back from another demo at the City of Oldsmar. We only used the gas saw on this demo, we easily cut through a piece of ductile pipe, clay pipe and pvc pipe.
